Spotlighting Some of the Industry’s Most Interesting PPF Installations

For most people, seeing a car worth millions is like going to the zoo. It’s an occasional pleasurable experience from a distance. But it’s not just eye candy for paint protection film (PPF) installers. This special sect regularly handles these vehicles with care and expert technique.

Several PPF companies shared with PPFMag the “coolest” jobs they’ve done so far in 2026. These installations showcase just a portion of the unique, exotic cars PPF helps protect.

James Window Tinting

Pine Island, New York

2015 Ferrari Speciale A

James Lafollette has been in the industry for 48 years. He’s owned James Window Tinting for 43 of those years. He’s no stranger to working on exotic cars, but installing PPF on a 2015 Ferrari Speciale A is among the most memorable jobs he’s done.

“The vehicle is worth about $2 million,” he says. “This is only the second one I’ve done in the past 10 years.”

Lafollette says his customer had kept the car on display indoors since he bought it years ago, but now intends to drive it. Lafollette removed and replaced old, yellowed PPF.

“When I laid eyes on that first 2015 Ferrari Speciale A I did 10 years ago, I thought it was the most beautiful car in the world,” he says. “This most recent one was just as gorgeous.”

The value of most cars depreciates as soon as they leave the dealership. This Ferrari is so rare that its worth actually grew by over 500% since its purchase, something that Lafollette says blows his mind.

“I’ve done a lot of Ferraris, including ones in the racing industry,” he says. “This car stands alone.”

Nothing about the installation stood out as difficult for Lafollette, but that could be because he gave himself plenty of time to get it done.

“It took around three days to do the job,” he says. “I was careful to be meticulous in every possible way.”

Sun Stoppers of Concord

Concord, North Carolina

2026 Corvette Z06

According to Chris Bivens, sales manager and installer at Sun Stoppers of Concord, just being in the presence of a 2026 Corvette Z06 was exhilarating.

“It’s such a top-tier car,” he says, explaining that installer Justin Tittle worked on the vehicle. “This one was brand new; it only had 501 miles on it.”

This installation also helped the whole shop appreciate just how much trust their customers place in them.

“As car guys ourselves, we have to remember that these vehicles are the customers’ babies,” Bivens says. “Having this car in the shop wasn’t just cool, it also helps us show customers just how much we care for the vehicles they bring in.”

“We treat all the cars we work on with the same level of care,” he adds.

The installation took three full days, Bivens says, plus one last check the morning of the delivery.

The installation wasn’t difficult for Tittle, Bivens says, but there were a few small challenges.

“The car has some humps, so no software pattern will fit it exactly,” says Bivens. “With the diffuser, there are small pieces of PPF where seam work is key, especially on a black car.”

Invisifilm

Cheshire, United Kingdom

Kimera EV037

On the spectrum of rare cars, the Kimera EV037 is practically off the charts. Invisifilm in the U.K. had the opportunity to apply PPF on one.

“The ‘037’ means it’s one of only 37 Kimeras ever made,” installer Craig Smith explains in a video posted to the company’s Instagram page.

“I believe it’s the only Kimera with a right-hand driver’s side that exists,” Invisifilm owner Steve Walsh tells PPFMag.

Smith and Walsh custom-wrapped the vehicle, since there’s no template for such a rare car, Smith says.

One of the “coolest” parts of the car itself is its name, according to Walsh.

“Each of the 37 cars have their own name,” he says. “This car’s name is ‘Samantha,’ which is signed on the carbon kick plates. I think that’s a nice touch.”

All Pro Window Films

Raleigh, North Carolina

2025 Ferrari Purosangue

The 2025 Ferrari Purosangue is the brand’s flagship sports utility vehicle (SUV), incorporating its high-horsepower engine in a more utilitarian chassis. Hunter Garwood, general manager of All Pro Window Films, says his team recently handled a full-body PPF job on one of these vehicles.

“Between PPF, windshield protection film and other add-ons, it was one of the most expensive jobs we’ve ever done,” he says.

Garwood says the customer wanted to get everything done at once to save time, instead of splitting it into multiple jobs. That’s common for wealthy owners of exotic vehicles, Garwood says.

“These cars are a different caliber, and so are the customers,” he says.

The great news for All Pro Window Films is those customers trust the company to handle their expensive, rare cars.

“We have become the go-to source for exotic and luxury cars in our area,” Garwood says. “I have catered to those clients over the years, building amazing relationships and trust with them.”

Now that the shop has put PPF on one or two cars for this client, Garwood says their conversations with the customer are shorter and the customer has fewer questions about future projects because they already know what to expect.

Garwood knows now’s not the time to get complacent, though.

“The exotic market keeps raising the bar each year, meaning our workmanship must keep up at the same pace,” he says.

Garwood says the installers took their time on the project to ensure everything was as good as possible.

“The installation took a full week,” he says. “Probably the most challenging part was a huge hood stretch using a 72-inch piece of film.”
