During Veterans Day we honor all of the industry’s veterans and take a moment to highlight what window film businesses have done and are doing to honor them.
Many industry companies have made a commitment to hire veterans and one company was recently recognized for doing so. DuPont Inc., based in Wilmington, Del., was recognized with a Platinum award in the large company category by the U.S. Department of Labor in its 2020 HIRE Vets Medallion Awards. The company was one of several honored for recruiting, employing and retaining America’s veterans.
The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act (HIRE Vets Act) went into effect in 2017. Recipients of the 2020 HIRE Vets Medallion Awards attested to meeting the employment and veteran integration assistance criteria, including veteran hiring and retention percentages; availability of veteran-specific resources; leadership programming for veterans; dedicated human resource efforts; and/or compensation and tuition assistance programs for veterans.
“American employers are in search of skilled and dedicated workers, and our veterans are among the best recruits,” said John Lowry, assistant secretary for the Veterans’ Employment and Training Service. “The HIRE Vets Medallion Award is earned by businesses that demonstrate a strong commitment to attracting and retaining veterans. In 2019, we had a strong showing, honoring employers that have hired more than 52,000 veterans since 2017.”
