SEMA 2025: Pack Your Walking Shoes

by Vinnie Driscoll

Every year, the Las Vegas Convention Center turns into something out of a car enthusiast’s wildest dream. From Nov. 4–7 this year, it will once again play host to the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show, a gathering so big and so packed with people and products that no description really does it justice.

Let me put it this way: I’ve been to a lot of trade shows in my career. Big ones. Busy ones. But nothing compares to SEMA. The sheer size of it is overwhelming in the best way possible. If you’ve never been, you might picture a convention center with some booths, maybe a few halls, and a manageable amount of walking. Let me stop you right there. SEMA is a marathon, not a sprint. The convention center is massive, and for four days you’ll be racking up steps like it’s your job.

I always tell first-timers of large trade shows: wear the most comfortable shoes you own. You’ll be walking from hall to hall, wing to wing, and back again. One moment you’re looking at a booth with a $2 million McLaren, and the next you’re being pulled in by the latest detailing products, tools or window tint innovations.

While SEMA is known for its flash and spectacle, it’s also the place where real industry trends take shape. As you make your way across those seemingly endless aisles, be on the lookout for what’s next in PPF. Last year, I saw color PPF making some noise, and I expect even more of it this time around. Manufacturers are getting bolder with solid tones, metallics and even color-shifting films that blur the line between protection and style. At SEMA, standing out is everything, and color PPF fits the bill perfectly.

Another area to be mindful of is “smarter” film technology. Self-healing PPF has become standard for many brands, but the bar keeps going up with films that repel water, resist oils and even promise easier maintenance.

Of course, PPF is just one slice of the pie. As you walk the halls, you’ll pass rows of custom builds, exotic supercars, parts and accessories of every imaginable kind and products you didn’t even know existed. That’s part of the magic of SEMA … you never know what you’ll stumble across. By the end of each day, your feet will be sore, your head will be spinning and your phone will be packed with photos of things you didn’t want to forget.

So if you’re heading to Las Vegas this November, consider this: pack light, pack smart, and most importantly, pack your walking shoes. Trust me, you’re going to need them.
