New Season New Outlook
By Emmariah Holcomb
Okay so I looked outside of my windows recently and noticed there were more birds and flowers and that the sun seemed to be out a lot longer—you know what that means? Spring is here, which also means another issue of PPFMag is available.
This year we’re expanding things a bit by adding a third issue, which is slated for the fall. Yes the news has been out and some of you have reached out asking why is now the time for an additional issue. The short and sweet reason—PPF has filled a need. It’s been seen as something that provides its industry with benefits.
Just like with time, we spring forward, but it’s important not to go too far. I, like many of you, enjoy doing what I can to help the industry, and over the past few months my outlook has changed a little bit. For as long as I can remember I’ve always been the person who wants to keep learning and take on projects and challenges. From a worker’s standpoint this is great, but it can be tricky to balance at times.
In my recent quest for knowledge I took on a few things that were new to me and I quickly learned I took too much on at one time. I’m sure several of you have gone through a similar situation. Your business might notice a competitor started offering ceramic coatings and you think “Hey I can offer it too,” the only thing is you might not have an installer who’s trained to do it well. Now you’ve taken on a little more than you originally expected.
I’ve learned that it’s okay not to know or be able to offer everything to everyone all of the time. Instead you can offer what your best skills are and thrive off of them. Then you can gain new skills or techniques when it’s right for your business. If not reality will get you, and quickly.
As we kick off a new year with a new issue I’m excited to have a new outlook in a new season—and looking forward to learning and working with you.
